Of Coloured Skins and Racism...

An African boy wrote this poem in 2005

When I born, I Black,
When I grow up, I Black,
When I go in Sun, I Black,
When I scared, I Black,
When I sick, I Black,
And when I die, I still black..

And you White fella,.....
When you born, you Pink,
When you grow up, you White,
When you go in Sun, you Red,
When you cold, you Blue,
When you scared, you Yellow,
When you sick, you Green,
And when you die, you Gray..

And you calling me Coloured ??

Its always amazing for me to see us Asians going for skin whitening products while the Caucasians are busy tanning themselves silly. All the trouble for?? To look better? Look better in whose eyes?

My Garden...

Since I was taking photos of the flowering cactus in my garden, I thought might as well take some photos of the "not so common" plants that I have in my garden. :)

This is actually the "purple" chili padi. Yes... its really purple colored and they taste much "hotter" than the red varieties!!! One plant just bear so much of the chilies that my mom usually gives them to my aunty or neighbours.

You guys have to forgive me for not knowing the actual names of these plants as I'm not really a botanist/gardener.... :P

I just remembered that I saw this along the roadside coming to my house and I told my mom that
nowadays they are becoming a little rare. So we decided to plant one in the garden. And my gosh!!! It grew SO BIG!!!

This fella is over 2 metres tall. And the leaves can be used as the "ba1 jiao1 shan4" in Journey to the West!!! :)

This last one is called the "deer's fern" or something like that. You guys won't believe where I got this from. I was actually on a trip to a rubber plantation with my uncle when I saw the little version of this fella growing from a rubber tree. The leaves looks SO nice, and I remembered from my science that they are not parasites which means theoretically they could be planted on ANY surface, provided they get enough sun and water.

So I actually "un-plugged" the plant from the rubber tree and transport it back home!!! Then I tied it around my house column using some wires. After about a month, it got stuck onto the concrete very well and as you can see... its humongous now after growing for about 3 years. And all it needed was just water from us.. :)

Hahahaha... I've got other "rare" plants around... will continue when I'm in the MOOD again... :)

Difference Between Men & Women

THE HUSBAND STORE

A store that sells new husbands has just opened in New York City, where a woman may go and choose a husband.
Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:

You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the value of the products increase as the shopper ascends the flights.

The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!

So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband.

On the first floor the sign on the door reads : Floor 1 - These men Have Jobs.

The second floor sign reads : Floor 2 - These men Have Jobs and Love Kids.

The third floor sign reads : Floor 3 -These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, and are Extremely Good Looking. "Wow," she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.

She goes to the fourth floor and sign reads : Floor 4 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and Help With Housework.

"Oh, mercy me!" she exclaims, "I can hardly stand it!"

Still, she goes to the fifth floor and sign reads : Floor 5 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, Help with Housework and Have a Strong Romantic Streak. She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor and the Sign reads :

Floor 6 - You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please.

Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.

To avoid gender bias charges, the store's owner opens a New Wives 'store just across the street.

THE WIFE STORE

The 1st floor has wives that love sex.

The 2nd floor has wives that love sex and are good cooks.

The 3rd through sixth floors have never been visited ! Men are practical, easier to please.

Doesn't it mean men prefer SEX and FOOD to anything else????!!!?? LOL!!!

Hehehehe.... I think I'm a LITTLE harder to please than that.... I would have gone to the fifth floor at least!!! :P

Update On Cactus Flower!!!

Ok the photos above were taken at around 9:30pm... Can see the flowers are blooming... but only about halfway... :)

Now these were taken at 1230am... See.... full bloom already. Its a pity there's only one blooming and the rest are still in bud form. Maybe in a few days we can see more flowers blooming....:)

Blah Blah Blah..... :)

Okies....2 things to show off a bit today.

I was playing in the garden with my dog today and I saw the cactus in my garden is flowering again....I'll see if I remember to take a picture late at night because it only blooms in the middle of the night. For now this is what you see....

When it actually blooms, its actually quite big. Like a lotus flower. :) On the previous larger cactus, there were almost 20+ flowers on a single plant a few years back!!

Today I also bought a rubber ball for my dog QQ to play with. Its punctured now, thanks to her over-aggressive biting :P!!! Got to snap some CUTE pics of QQ with her current favourite toy. I'm saying current because the latest toy will always be her favourite!!! :)

For more of her pictures, you can view her August album through my multiply. :)

ABRACADABRA!!!!

We are familiar with this term for its association with magic and childhood stories. If you are like me, you would not have though about the origins of this term. For me, I've always thought that this was just a fictional term, a word that was "invented" by a certain author to describe the "effects" and "power" when casting a spell.... :)

So it was by chance that I came across the origins of this term. ABRACADABRA actually derives from the Hebrew abreg ad habra meaning to 'strike dead with thy lightning.'
Or maybe abrakha adabra - Hebrew for "I shall bless, I shall speak."
And maybe also, a corruption of the Hebrew avar k'davar which means roughly "it will be according to what is spoken;"

Hehehehehe... so now you know it ACTUALLY means something.... and quite a deadly one by that!!!!

For more information on this term, you may refer to the Wikipedia here.

Waterless & Splashless Urinals

What else can you expect from a urinal? From its design I think we can know it WILL be splashless.... but WATERLESS???? WTF????

Ah..... for US400 - 500 each, there must be something which makes them special, no? :)

The reason it is waterless is something like the concept of our toilets, where you have the water in the toilet bowl, blocking the disgusting smell from coming out from the septic tank.

In this case, they developed a gel like liquid that's less dense than water or rather our urine. So when we urinate into the urinals, it flows below this less-dense layer and stays there. This layer effectively blocks out the smell as well.

In the end, you get to save tons of water by using this urinal..... that is if you are willing to fork out its price!!!! :P

KL Trip!!! (3rd August)

Ok... I'm in KL again....hehehehe what else for? Visit my BB again, of course!!! On the first night here we went for a farewell dinner at Italiannies/Laundry Bar for one of BB's now ex-colleague, Jac Jac. Actually her name's Jacqueline but I dunno why everyone calls her JacJac!!! :P

Ok.... Jac is the 2nd one on the left. As for the rest..... lets see if I can get it right.... from the left Lee Leng, Jac, Chernade???? (is that the correct way to spell her name har?), and eeerrrrr......(cannot remember her name although BB mentioned to me before....)

So where's my BB? Here here..... the one with her is Carmen....

Now then where am I???? :P Here, here... and as usual with my sleepy eyes.... (although I was REALLY lacking in my precious zzzzZZZZZzzzs as I slept at 6am the day before)

They had a "2nd round" later at the Laundry Bar, but I was really too tired to join them so my BB and I went home after the dinner. Can't blame us ah..... afterall we haven't seen each other for 2 weeks!!!! We have a lot of our own "seeing" of each other to do!!!! :P
